Quick Adjuster Arm/REAR ADJ ARM,R OR L,EA,40TEETH, REV C
Application: Volkswagen Type 1 (Beetle/Bug), Baja Bugs, sand rails, and custom off-road racing buggy chassis platforms.
Component Synergy: Engineered to fit and operate inside Sway-A-Way Adjuster Housing PN 7000.
Spline Profile: Standard 40-Tooth VW Inner Spline. Features a precision-broached 40-tooth configuration, matching the standard factory inner spline layout of vintage air-cooled VW rear torsion bars for seamless compatibility.
Use Case: Perfect for long-travel off-road buggies, heavy-duty prerunners, and street-legal performance bugs that require frequent suspension tuning for varying track conditions or payload weights.
Material: CNC-Machined Alloy Steel. Sculpted from premium-grade alloy steel billet utilizing advanced CNC machining processes to guarantee flawless dimensional accuracy and absolute structural uniformity.
Heat Treatment: Through-hardened and heat-treated to an optimized tensile strength, allowing the arm to endure brutal shock loads and continuous torsional twist without cracking or stripping out the internal splines.
Finish: Plated Black Coating. Sealed with a durable protective plating that delivers superb resistance against corrosion, moisture, salt air, and abrasive sand.
📐 Flawless Indexing and Baseline Clocking: When installing the matching PN 7000 housing into your chassis torsion tube and sliding in this 7001 arm, pay strict attention to your baseline "clocking" angle. Because the arm features a 40-tooth internal spline, miscalculating your initial orientation by even a single tooth will drastically alter your baseline ride height. Always set the mechanical adjuster bolt to its exact middle or neutral position before sliding the arm onto the torsion bar. This ensures you have an even distribution of upward and downward adjustment sweep.
🔥 Manage Weld Heat on the Housing Companion (PN 7000): While this 7001 arm is a slip-in component, its matching housing must be welded directly into the center of the vehicle's rear torsion tube. To prevent warping or distorting the precision internal tracks where this adjuster arm must smoothly pivot, do not have the 7001 arm installed inside the housing while welding. Use a high-penetration MIG or TIG process on the housing, allow the chassis tube to cool completely and naturally at room temperature, and then slide the adjuster arm in. Never quench hot chromoly or high-tensile steel in water.
❌ Never Mix Inner and Outer Torsion Bar Ends: Air-cooled VW and buggy rear torsion bars are side-specific and directional. They feature an unequal spline layout—typically 40 splines on the inner end (which slides into this 7001 adjuster arm at the center of the car) and 44 splines on the outer end (which connects to your outer spring plate). Double-check your torsion bar stamps to ensure you are inserting the correct 40-tooth end into this arm. Attempting to force the wrong side in will permanently gall and destroy the precision-broached internal splines.
❌ Apply High-Pressure Anti-Seize Generously: Because this component sits at the absolute center of the chassis torsion housing, it is highly susceptible to trapping condensation, trail water, or fine silt. Before final assembly, pack the internal 40-tooth splines and the outer mating tracks of the arm with a liberal layer of waterproof, high-pressure anti-seize or premium marine grease. This prevents the steel components from rust-welding over time, ensuring effortless adjustments down the road.
- 🔩 Secure the Locking Hardware Before Driving: The mechanical adjustment bolt handles the immense rotational leverage generated by your rear suspension travel. Once you have dialed in your target ride height on an alignment rack or scale pads, ensure the locking nuts or set screws are fully torqued to specification. Operating the vehicle with loose adjuster hardware can cause the internal arm to slip violently, resulting in an instantaneous drop in suspension height and a total loss of vehicle control.
SKU 7001
Category: Volkswagen Rear Torsion Bar Quick Adjuster Arm
Engineered by Sway-A-Way, this premium quick adjuster arm is designed for high-performance Volkswagen Bug and custom buggy chassis applications. Designed explicitly to interface with Sway-A-Way’s part number 7000 weld-in adjuster housing, this component replaces the factory rear spring plate inner hub setup. It allows builders and race mechanics to make highly precise, exterior mechanical ride height modifications. Instead of undergoing a tedious, hours-long tear-down of the rear suspension trailing arms just to change your stance, this arm enables you to safely tune your chassis bias right from the garage floor or pit lane.
