Category: Heavy-Duty King Kong Link Pin Bushing Set (4-Piece Set)

Engineered for hardcore off-road racing, long-travel sand rails, and heavy-duty Baja builds, this 4-piece link pin bushing set is designed specifically for oversized "King Kong" link pin suspension setups. In high-impact off-road environments, factory-sized vintage assemblies are prone to egging out, distorting, or shearing under severe trail punishment. Upgrading to the massive King Kong architecture solves these structural failure points, but requires high-strength matching bushings to handle the brutal load transfers. This premium replacement bushing set eliminates front-end slop, restores crisp steering tracking, and guarantees fluid, bind-free articulation through extreme suspension cycles.

Performance & Fitment
    • Application: High-travel off-road front beams, sand cars, and racing buggies utilizing aftermarket King Kong front spindle and trailing arm assemblies.

    • Purpose: Acts as the primary load-bearing pivot sleeve within the suspension arm assembly, providing a low-friction, ultra-stable interface for the link pins.

    • Kit Quantity: 4 High-Strength Bushings (Completes one full front axle assembly—two upper and two lower pivots).

  • Premium Construction

    • Material: Heavy-Duty Structural Alloy. Machined from a premium-grade, wear-resistant alloy explicitly selected for its exceptional compressive yield strength and resistance to surface deformation under heavy impacts.

    • Precision Manufacturing: CNC Machined. Outer and inner diameters are turned to exact aerospace tolerances to ensure a flawless press-fit into the trailing arm bores and a smooth, zero-backlash slip-fit over the link pins.

    • Load Distribution: Engineered with optimized wall thicknesses to maximize surface area contact, evenly dissipating massive vertical and lateral G-forces.

  • 🏁 Off-Road King Kong Suspension Tech & Installation Notes

Pressing and setting up oversized King Kong link pin bushings requires absolute mechanical precision to prevent binding and ensure component longevity:

  • 🛠️ Correct Press-In Technique: These heavy-duty alloy bushings are designed as an interference press-fit into the trailing arm loops. Always use a hydraulic shop press combined with a properly sized bushing driver or mandrel that contacts the outer rim of the bushing evenly. Never attempt to drive these bushings into the arms using a standard hammer or mallet; doing so will mushroom the edges, distort the inner diameter, and ruin the internal tolerances.

  • 📐 Post-Press Hone Verification: When any high-strength metal bushing is pressed into a thick steel housing loop, the compressed fitment can slightly shrink the bushing's internal diameter (ID). After pressing all four bushings into place, dry-test your King Kong link pins. The pins must slide through the sleeves cleanly without catching. If the fitment is too tight, use a precision brake cylinder hone or reamer to lightly clear the ID until a flawless, smooth slip-fit is achieved.

  • ❌ Clear the Grease Channels: King Kong assemblies operate in brutal, debris-laden racing conditions. Before assembly, verify that the grease entry holes in the trailing arms align perfectly with the lubrication ports or internal channels of the new bushings. If these ports are misaligned, grease will be blocked from reaching the pin, resulting in immediate metal-on-metal friction, severe heat buildup, and rapid premature failure.

  • ❌ Pack with High-Impact Waterproof Grease: Never assemble a link pin pivot dry. During final configuration, liberally coat the internal bore of the bushings and the outer shaft of the link pins with a premium, high-impact, tacky waterproof chassis grease or a high-pressure molybdenum-disulfide compound. This seals out destructive elements like salt water, fine silt, and mud while maintaining a friction-reducing boundary layer.

  • 🔩 Check Suspension Sweep Before Driving: Once the bushings are installed, the pins are shimmed, and the locknuts are torqued to specification, manually cycle the front trailing arms through their entire vertical travel arc from full droop to full bump. The arms must move smoothly and effortlessly. Any catching or stiff zones indicate that the bushings are misaligned or binding, requiring immediate teardown and inspection before hitting the dirt.
