SWAY BAR ARM, 1 1/4-48 SPLINE, STRAIGHT STEEL, 3/4" X 18 3/8" LONG (EACH)
SKU 613-3
Category: High-Performance Straight Sway Bar Arms
Engineered for hardcore competition, heavy-duty off-road racing, rock crawling, and custom chassis fabrication, this 18 3/8” straight steel sway bar arm delivers massive structural rigidity to control extreme body roll. When a vehicle undergoes high-speed cornering or intense suspension articulation, standard anti-roll bar components flex, delaying the transfer of stabilizing forces across the chassis. Crafted from premium USA-made steel, this heavy-duty arm eliminates component compliance, ensuring instantaneous suspension response and predictable, flat handling dynamics under severe racing conditions.
Performance & Fitment
Application: Custom fabrication, trophy trucks, ultra4 rock crawlers, pro-touring builds, and specialized heavy-duty aftermarket anti-roll bar assemblies.
Spline Profile: 1 1/4"-48 (Precision 1.25-inch nominal bore featuring 48 teeth; engineered to interface perfectly with matching 1.25" splined sway bar core tubes).
Length: 18 3/8" (Center-to-center measurement from the splined drive bore to the end-link mounting point).
Design Geometry: Straight arm configuration. This design maximizes pure tensile and compressive strength, providing exceptional resistance to lateral bending forces under extreme leverage.
Premium Construction
Material: USA-Made A-572 Grade 50 Steel. Forged from high-strength, low-alloy structural steel known for its exceptional yield strength and structural memory under extreme torsional loads.
Finish: Zinc Black Coating with a Brushed Sanded Look. Provides robust, long-lasting corrosion resistance against moisture, salt, and mud while delivering a premium, rugged, semi-matte aesthetic.
Clamping System: Features an integrated split-collar design complete with heavy-duty mounting clamp bolts. This system locks the arm mechanically to the sway bar core, completely eliminating any possibility of splined stripping or axial walking.
🛠️ Custom Fabricated Sway Bar Setup & Tech Notes
Integrating a high-strength splined sway bar arm into a custom suspension system requires careful consideration of alignment tolerances and clamp loading:
📐 Flawless Arm Parallelism: When installing timed sway bar arms onto a splined core bar, you must ensure both arms sit completely parallel to each other when the chassis is at rest. Because the internal splines are precision-timed, a mismatch of even a single tooth from side to side will pre-load the anti-roll system at ride height. This creates an artificial weight bias, causing the vehicle to steer or lean unevenly and resulting in unpredictable handling when turning left versus right.
❌ Avoid Control Arm and Frame Binding: Before finalizing your sway bar mounting locations, cycle the suspension through its entire range of motion—from full compression (bump) to full extension (droop). Verify that the 18 3/8" straight arm clears all brake lines, steering linkages, chassis frame rails, and control arms. Straight arms do not have an outward offset, meaning they must have a completely clear, linear operational path next to the frame clip.
🔩 Torque Specification for Split-Collar Clamp Bolts: The included high-tensile clamp bolts are the primary line of defense keeping the arm from sliding or wobbling on the sway bar splines. Thoroughly clean the core bar splines and the arm internal teeth before assembly. Once slipped into position, tighten the split-collar clamp bolts progressively using a calibrated torque wrench. Ensure you reach the structural hardware rating (typically 45–50 ft-lbs / 61–68 N·m for premium Grade 8 / Class 10.9 fasteners) to fully seat the split-jaw onto the core bar.
❌ Anti-Seize Preference: Apply a thin film of high-pressure, anti-seize lubricant directly onto the core bar splines before sliding the arm on. While the split-collar clamps the arm tightly, moisture can still migrate into the microscopic gaps between the 48 teeth. Anti-seize prevents environmental rust-welding, allowing you to easily remove or service the arms in the future without damaging the splines with a hammer.
❌ Inspect End Link Alignment: Ensure that the rod ends or end links connecting the tip of this 18 3/8" arm to your suspension control arm or axle housing are aligned straight. If the end link operates at an extreme angle, it will subject the sway bar arm to severe lateral twisting forces rather than pure vertical leverage, accelerating wear on your sway bar pivot bushings.
