⚙️ Drivetrain Tech & Installation Notes
Axles with integrated bearing surfaces require distinct assembly and maintenance protocols:
❌ Bearing Alignment is Critical: The support bearing housing must be perfectly concentric and aligned with the transaxle output and wheel hub. Any misalignment will load the bearing surface unevenly, leading to rapid bearing failure, excessive heat, and potential axle snapping.
❌ Press-Fit vs. Slip-Fit Verification: When placing a custom order, verify whether your support bearing requires a press-fit or a slip-fit tolerance on the journal. Installing a slip-fit bearing on a press-fit journal will cause the inner race to spin, destroying the axle shaft.
❌ Critical Plunge Check: Even with a localized bearing surface, you must cycle the suspension through its full range of motion. Ensure the axle has sufficient "plunge" space within the CV joints so it does not bottom out and push against the support bearing structure.
