Axle Set - Porsche 930 - 300M, L- 22"
SKU 32422
Category: Porsche 930 Axles (300M Steel)
The 32422 is an ultra-long, high-performance axle engineered for extreme long-travel suspension systems utilizing Porsche 930 (108mm) CV joints. Forged from aerospace-grade 300M steel, these axles are 30% stronger than standard chromoly alternatives. At a full 22" in length, they are the premier choice for wide-track sand rails, unlimited desert race cars, and custom trophy limited builds that demand maximum suspension articulation and bulletproof reliability.
Performance & Fitment
Application: High-performance Porsche 930 CV joint assemblies.
Length: 22" (Overall tip-to-tip).
Spline Count: 28 Teeth (High-torque racing standard).
Spline Dimensions: 1.220" Outside Diameter with a generous 3" spline length.
Floating Design: Featuring a shoulderless spline, this design allows the CV joint to "float" or slide across the 3" spline area. This is a critical feature for maximum-travel cars, as it prevents the axle from side-loading or binding the CV cage during massive suspension cycles, drastically reducing the risk of cage failure.
Includes: Spirol Lock circlips for the outboard ends to ensure secure retention.
Premium Construction
Material: 300M Aircraft-Grade Alloy Steel. This premium alloy provides the highest tensile strength in the industry while maintaining the ductility needed to survive extreme torsional twisting under load.
Precision Manufacturing: Centerless ground to a mirror finish. This eliminates microscopic surface imperfections that act as "stress risers," ensuring the axle can flex like a torsion spring without snapping.
Heat Treatment: Advanced through-hardening optimizes the axle for extreme durability while maintaining the flexibility required for torsional load soaking.
Torque Capacity: Specifically built to handle 1,000+ HP turbo applications and the violent shock loads of high-speed desert racing.
⚙️ Drivetrain Tech & Installation Notes
When installing a 22" axle in a high-travel chassis, precision setup is the difference between victory and a DNF:
❌ Floating Spline Advantage: In a 20"+ suspension travel setup, the distance between the transaxle and the hub changes significantly. The shoulderless 3" spline allows the axle to slide internally, keeping the CV balls centered in the cage and preventing the axle from "punching out" the CV end cap.
❌ Critical Plunge Check: You must cycle the suspension from full droop to full bump without the CV boots attached. Verify that the axle has at least 3/8" of "plunge" (free play) at the tightest point of the arc. If the axle bottoms out, it will destroy your transaxle side-covers and bearings instantly.
❌ Lubrication: Use a high-molybdenum (Moly) racing grease. Because the CV star "floats" on the spline, high-pressure lubrication is mandatory to prevent spline galling.
❌ CV Joint Selection: To match the strength of 300M steel, always use high-angle 930 CV joints with upgraded chromoly or 300M cages. Standard OEM cages will quickly fail under these geometry demands.
❌ Directional Memory: For professional racing, mark these axles "Left" and "Right" after their first heat cycle. Reversing the rotation of a 300M axle that has already taken a torsional set can lead to premature stress fractures.
