Axle Set - Porsche 930 - 300M (19 1/4")
Performance & Fitment
Application: High-performance Porsche 930 CV joint assemblies (108mm).
Length: 19 1/4" (Overall tip-to-tip).
Spline Count: 28 Teeth.
Spline Length: 3".
Floating Design: This axle is engineered without an inboard shoulder. This allows the CV joint to "float" or slide across the full 3" spline length. By allowing the CV star to find its own center during heavy suspension travel, it significantly reduces lateral pressure on the CV cage, which is the #1 cause of cage breakage in long-travel setups.
Torque Capacity: Engineered to withstand the extreme shock loads of high-boost turbo engines and harsh off-road landings.
Material: 300M Aircraft-Grade Steel. This material is the pinnacle of axle metallurgy, offering incredible tensile strength and superior ductility. It allows the axle to twist like a torsion bar under extreme torque, absorbing shocks that would otherwise destroy your transaxle gears.
Precision Manufacturing: Centerless ground to a mirror finish. This process removes surface imperfections that can lead to stress cracks, ensuring a consistent spring rate and maximum fatigue life.
Heat Treatment: Advanced through-hardening optimizes the axle for extreme durability while maintaining the flexibility required for torsional load soaking.
Finish: Heavy-duty powder coating provides a durable barrier against corrosion and debris.
❌ Why the "Floating" Spline Matters: In long-travel suspensions, the distance between the transaxle and the wheel hub changes constantly. If an axle has a shoulder, the CV cage can be "pushed" or "pulled" to its limit, causing it to shatter. The 3" shoulderless spline on the 32419 allows the axle to move freely, keeping the CV cage in a neutral, safe position.
❌ Axle Plunge Calculation: Before final installation, cycle your suspension from full droop to full bump. Verify that the axle has at least 1/4" to 3/8" of "plunge" (clearance) at both ends of the stroke to prevent the axle from acting as a "battering ram" against your transaxle side-covers.
❌ CV Joint Synergy: To match the strength of 300M steel, it is highly recommended to use high-angle CV joints with chromoly or 300M internal cages.
❌ Spline Lubrication: Use a high-quality Molybdenum (Moly) racing grease. Proper lubrication is critical on a floating spline to ensure the CV star can slide smoothly under load without galling the splines.
- ❌ Directional Memory: For professional racing, once these axles have been "run in," mark them as Left and Right. Reversing the rotation of a 300M axle after it has taken a torsional set can lead to premature fatigue.
