⚙️ Drivetrain Tech & Installation Notes
To ensure the longevity of your 300M axles, follow these professional setup guidelines:
❌ Calculating "Plunge": This 16 3/4" axle must be verified against your suspension cycle. Ensure that at full "droop" and full "bump," the axle has at least 1/4" of clearance inside the CV joint. If the axle bottoms out, it will punch through the CV cap or shatter the transaxle side-cover.
❌ CV Joint Compatibility: These axles are designed for high-angle 108mm 930 CV joints. For maximum strength, it is recommended to pair these with 300M or chromoly CV cages to match the strength of the axle.
❌ Spline Lubrication: Always apply a liberal amount of high-pressure molybdenum (moly) grease or anti-seize to the 28-tooth splines. This prevents the CV star from "cold welding" to the axle over time due to heat and pressure.
❌ Directional Sets: While 300M is incredibly resilient, in professional racing, it is best practice to mark these axles "Left" and "Right" once they have been used. Running an axle in the opposite direction after it has "taken a set" can shorten its fatigue life.
❌ Inspection: Periodically check the powder coating. If you see "spiraling" in the finish, it indicates the axle has experienced significant torsional twist. While 300M is designed for this, extreme spiraling is a sign that you should inspect for spline deformation.
