🛠️ Installation & Maintenance Notes

The outer grommet is often the first to wear due to exposure to the elements. Proper installation is key to longevity:

• ❌ Lubrication Rule: Only use silicone-based lubricants or specialized rubber grease. Never use petroleum-based grease, as it will cause the rubber to swell, soften, and fail prematurely.

• ❌ Outer Cover Inspection: When replacing this grommet, inspect the stamped steel outer cover for any bending or distortion. A warped cover will not apply even pressure to the grommet, leading to premature wear and suspension noise.

• ❌ Squeak Prevention: A common "chirping" sound from the rear of a VW is often caused by a dry outer grommet. Applying a light coat of silicone grease to the contact surfaces during installation will ensure silent operation.

• ❌ Complete Service: For the best handling results, it is recommended to replace the outer grommet (SKU 3013) and the inner grommet simultaneously to ensure the spring plate is perfectly centered.
