Torsion Bar – Sprint Car – 30" Long – Tubular – 1.065 Rate – Not Prestressed
Performance & Fitment
Application: Sprint Car (Winged or Non-Wing)
Length: 30”
Diameter: 1.065”
Type: Tubular (Hollow). This large-diameter hollow design delivers the massive spring rate required for high-load applications while significantly reducing unsprung weight, improving the suspension's "rebound speed" and tire contact.
Rate: 1.065
Non-Prestressed: This bar is omni-directional. Because it has not been pre-twisted during manufacturing, it can be used for either Left or Right side applications. This allows for a more natural break-in and a predictable handling profile for custom tuning.
Tuning Profile: A 1.065" tubular bar is an extreme tuning tool. It is typically utilized on the Right Rear for high-speed circuits to prevent the chassis from bottoming out under extreme centrifugal force or for heavy, "hooked-up" track conditions.
Material: Manufactured from high-strength alloy steel, through-hardened for maximum durability and resistance to torsional fatigue.
Precision Manufacturing: Centerless ground to a strict 1.065" tolerance. This ensures uniform wall thickness—critical for a tubular bar to maintain a perfectly linear and repeatable spring rate.
Heat Treatment: Advanced through-hardening optimizes the steel’s "memory," helping the bar maintain its index and resist sagging over time.
Finish: Durable coating provides a barrier against the abrasive and corrosive nature of dirt racing environments.
Spline Quality: Precision-machined splines ensure a tight, no-slop interface with your torsion arms and stops for immediate chassis feedback.
❌ Settling & Ride Height: Because this bar is non-prestressed, it is more likely to "take a set" (settle) during its first few heat cycles compared to a pre-stressed bar. Monitor your ride heights and torsion stop angles closely during the initial night of racing.
❌ Maximum Tube Clearance: At a full 1.065" diameter, this bar occupies the maximum space inside a standard torsion tube. Your chassis tubes must be perfectly straight and surgically clean. Any internal binding will "lock" the suspension, resulting in a dangerously erratic handling car that skips or "skates" across the track.
❌ Internal Bore Care: Hollow bars are susceptible to internal rust from trapped moisture, which can lead to sudden stress fractures. Keep the internal bore clean and lightly oiled, or ensure it is properly capped.
❌ Rebound Control: The 1.065" rate generates significant "snap" on rebound. Ensure your shock valving (specifically rebound) is aggressive enough to control this rate; otherwise, the car will "pogo" and lose traction on corner exit.
❌ Length Check: This is a 30" tip-to-tip bar. Verify your chassis requirements, as many standard Sprint Car chassis utilize 29" bars.
- ❌ Hardware Stress: The torque generated by a 1.065" bar is immense. Inspect your torsion arms for "egging" or spline wear; the massive loads can shear or strip standard aluminum hardware.
