Torsion Bar - Sprint Car - 30" Long - Tubular - 1.035 Rate - Not Prestressed
Category: Sprint Car Torsion Bars (Tubular)
Achieve elite-level chassis support with this ultra-heavy 1.035” rate tubular torsion bar. At 30” in length, this bar is designed for high-load applications on high-speed half-miles or extremely "hooked-up" track conditions. The non-prestressed design offers a neutral spring rate, providing the versatility to run the bar on either side of the car and a linear feel preferred by veteran chassis tuners.
Performance & Fitment
Application: Sprint Car (Winged or Non-Wing)
Length: 30”
Diameter: 1.035”
Type: Tubular (Hollow). By utilizing a large-diameter hollow design, this bar achieves an extreme spring rate with significantly less weight than a solid bar, improving the suspension's "rebound speed" and tire contact.
Rate: 1.035
Non-Prestressed: This bar is omni-directional. Because it has not been pre-twisted during manufacturing, it can be used for either Left or Right side positions. This allows for a more natural break-in and a predictable, stable handling profile.
Tuning Profile: The 1.035" tubular bar is an aggressive tuning tool. It is typically utilized on the Right Rear to provide maximum platform support against heavy centrifugal forces or as a firm Left Rear option for heavy, high-bite track surfaces.
Premium Construction
Material: Manufactured from high-strength, aircraft-grade alloy steel, through-hardened for maximum durability and resistance to torsional fatigue.
Precision Manufacturing: Centerless ground to a strict 1.035" tolerance. This ensures uniform wall thickness across the tubular span, resulting in a perfectly consistent and repeatable spring rate.
Heat Treatment: Advanced heat-treating optimizes the steel's "memory," helping the bar maintain its index and resist sagging over time.
Finish: Powder-coated for superior corrosion resistance against the abrasive and damp environments of dirt track racing.
⚠️ Critical Fitment Exceptions
A bar of this diameter and rate requires precise maintenance and chassis prep:
❌ Ride Height Monitoring: As a non-prestressed bar, it is prone to "taking a set" (settling) during its first several heat cycles. Closely monitor your ride heights and block measurements during the initial night of racing and adjust your torsion stops accordingly.
❌ Internal Bore Maintenance: Hollow bars are susceptible to internal rust from trapped moisture, which can lead to sudden stress fractures. Keep the internal bore clean and lightly oiled or use protective end caps.
❌ Extreme Tube Clearance: At 1.035", this bar is at the physical limit of what standard torsion tubes can accommodate. Your chassis tubes must be perfectly straight and surgically clean. Any internal binding will "lock" the suspension, causing the car to bounce or skate uncontrollably.
❌ Rebound Damping: The 1.035" rate has a very high "snap" or return frequency. You must ensure your shock valving (specifically rebound) is heavy enough to control this bar, otherwise, the car will "pogo" off the corners.
❌ Length Check: This is a 30" tip-to-tip bar. Verify your chassis requirements, as many standard Sprint Car chassis utilize 29" bars.
❌ Hardware Integrity: The torque generated by a 1.035" bar is immense. Inspect your torsion arms for "egging" or spline wear; worn aluminum hardware can shear under the massive loads this bar exerts on the chassis.
