Torsion bar – Sprint Car – 30" long – tubular – 1.000 rate – not prestressed
Performance & Fitment
Application: Sprint Car (Winged or Non-Wing)
Length: 30”
Diameter: 1.000” (1 inch)
Type: Tubular (Hollow). This large-diameter hollow design delivers the massive spring rate required for high-load applications while significantly reducing unsprung weight, improving the suspension's "rebound speed" and tire contact.
Rate: 1.000
Non-Prestressed: This bar is omni-directional. Because it has not been pre-twisted during manufacturing, it can be used for either Left or Right side applications. This allows for a more natural break-in and a predictable handling profile.
Tuning Profile: A 1.000" tubular bar is an aggressive tuning tool. It is typically utilized on the Right Rear for high-speed circuits to prevent the chassis from bottoming out under extreme centrifugal force.
Material: Manufactured from high-strength alloy steel, through-hardened for maximum durability and resistance to torsional fatigue.
Precision Manufacturing: Centerless ground to a strict 1.000" tolerance. This ensures uniform wall thickness—critical for a tubular bar to maintain a perfectly linear and repeatable spring rate.
Heat Treatment: Advanced through-hardening optimizes the steel’s "memory," helping the bar maintain its index and resist sagging over time.
Spline Quality: Precision-machined splines provide a zero-play interface with torsion arms and stops, ensuring immediate suspension response.
❌ Settling & Ride Height: Because this bar is non-prestressed, it is more likely to "take a set" (drop in ride height) after its initial heat cycles. You must monitor your chassis heights closely during the first night of racing and adjust your torsion stops to compensate.
❌ Maximum Tube Clearance: At a full 1.000" diameter, this bar occupies the maximum space inside a standard torsion tube. Your chassis tubes must be perfectly straight and surgically clean. Any internal binding will "lock" the suspension, resulting in a dangerously erratic handling car that skips or "skates" across the track.
❌ Internal Bore Maintenance: Hollow bars are susceptible to internal rust from trapped moisture, which can lead to sudden stress fractures. Keep the internal bore clean and lightly oiled or use protective end caps.
❌ Rebound Damping: The 1.000" rate generates significant "snap" on rebound. Ensure your shock valving (specifically rebound) is aggressive enough to control this rate; otherwise, the car will "pogo" and lose traction on corner exit.
❌ Length Check: This is a 30" tip-to-tip bar. Verify your chassis requirements, as many standard Sprint Car chassis utilize 29" bars.
- ❌ Hardware Stress: The torque generated by a 1.000" bar is immense. Inspect your torsion arms for "egging" or spline wear; standard aluminum hardware can shear or strip under the massive loads this bar exerts.
