Category: Sprint Car Torsion Bars (Tubular)

Maximize your chassis stiffness and response with this heavy-duty 0.987” rate tubular torsion bar. At 30” in length, this bar is the premier choice for modern Sprint Car teams needing maximum platform control on high-bite surfaces. The non-prestressed design provides a neutral spring rate, offering the versatility to be used on any corner of the car and a linear feel preferred by elite chassis tuners.

Performance & Fitment

    • Application: Sprint Car (Winged or Non-Wing)

    • Length: 30”

    • Diameter: 0.987”

    • Type: Tubular (Hollow). This large-diameter hollow design delivers the massive spring rate required for high-load applications while significantly reducing unsprung weight, allowing the suspension to react instantly to track conditions.

    • Rate: 0.987

    • Non-Prestressed: This bar is omni-directional. Because it has not been pre-twisted during manufacturing, it can be installed on either the Left or Right side of the chassis. This allows for a more natural break-in and provides a predictable, stable handling profile.

    • Tuning Profile: The 0.987" tubular bar is an extreme tuning tool. It is typically utilized on the Right Rear for high-speed half-miles or "hooked-up" tracks where maximum support is required to prevent the chassis from bottoming out under centrifugal force.

  • Premium Construction

    • Material: Manufactured from high-strength alloy steel, through-hardened for exceptional durability and torsional fatigue resistance.

    • Precision Manufacturing: Centerless ground to a strict 0.987" tolerance. This ensures perfectly uniform wall thickness, which is critical for a tubular bar to provide a repeatable and predictable spring rate.

    • Heat Treatment: Advanced heat-treating maximizes the steel’s "memory," helping the bar return to its original index night after night.

    • Spline Quality: Precision-machined ends ensure a tight, zero-play interface with torsion arms and stops for immediate suspension response.

  • ⚠️ Critical Fitment Exceptions

Operating at a 0.987" rate requires precise maintenance and chassis preparation:

  • ❌ Settling & Ride Height: Because this bar is non-prestressed, it is more likely to "take a set" (drop in ride height) after its initial heat cycles. You must monitor your chassis heights closely during hot laps and adjust your torsion stops to compensate for the initial break-in.

  • ❌ Internal Bore Care: Tubular bars are hollow; moisture trapped inside can lead to internal rust and stress fractures. To prevent sudden failure, keep the internal bore clean and lightly lubricated or use protective end caps.

  • ❌ Extreme Tube Clearance: At 0.987", this bar is physically very thick and occupies nearly all the space inside a standard torsion tube. Your chassis tubes must be perfectly straight and surgically clean. Any internal binding will "lock" the suspension, resulting in a dangerously erratic handling car that skips or "skates" across the track.

  • ❌ Rebound Damping: The 0.987" rate generates significant "snap" on rebound. Ensure your shock valving is aggressive enough to control this rate; otherwise, the car will "pogo" and lose traction on corner exit.

  • ❌ Length Verification: This is a 30" tip-to-tip bar. Verify your chassis requirements, as many standard Sprint Car chassis utilize 29" bars.

  • ❌ Hardware Stress: The torque generated by a 0.987" bar is immense. Inspect your torsion arms and stops for "egging" or spline wear; the massive loads can shear or strip standard or worn aluminum hardware.
