Torsion Bar - Sprint Car - 30" Long - Tubular - .975 Rate - Left Front Or Right Rear
Performance & Fitment
Application: Sprint Car (Winged or Non-Wing)
Position: Left Front (LF) or Right Rear (RR)
Rate: 0.975
Diameter: 0.975”
Length: 30”
Construction: Tubular (Hollow). By removing the inactive center material, this bar allows the suspension to cycle faster and maintain better tire-to-track contact than a solid bar of the same rate.
Tuning Profile: * As a Right Rear bar: The 0.975" tubular is a "big-track" bar. It is the go-to choice for high-speed half-miles or "hooked-up" tracks where maximum support is required to prevent the chassis from bottoming out under centrifugal force.
As a Left Front bar: It provides an extremely stiff foundation to keep the nose pinned and maintain critical wing aerodynamics on high-velocity circuits.
Material: Manufactured from high-strength, heat-treated aircraft-grade alloy steel (4340) for maximum torsional resilience.
Precision Manufacturing: Centerless ground to a strict 0.975" tolerance. This ensures uniform wall thickness—critical for a tubular bar to maintain a perfectly linear and repeatable spring rate.
Heat Treatment: Through-hardened and pre-stressed to maximize "memory." This ensures the bar returns to its original index night after night, resisting the sagging common in lower-grade steels.
Finish: Durable powder coating protects against the abrasive dirt and corrosive chemicals found at the track.
❌ Critical Tube Clearance: At 0.975", this bar is physically very thick. Your chassis torsion tubes must be perfectly straight and surgically clean. Any internal rust, mud, or a slight bend in the tube will cause the bar to bind. A binding bar creates an erratic "infinite" spring rate that can cause the car to "skate" or bicycle.
❌ Shock Valving Requirements: The rebound "snap" of a 0.975" bar is significant. You must ensure your shocks (particularly on the RR) have enough rebound damping to control the bar's return, or the car will "pogo" and lose traction on corner exit.
❌ Internal Maintenance: Because it is hollow, moisture can collect inside the bore. Internal corrosion can lead to stress fractures and sudden failure. Keep the interior clean and lightly oiled or use end caps.
❌ Length Verification: This is a 30" tip-to-tip bar. Ensure your chassis is designed for 30" bars; many standard Sprint Cars utilize 29" bars, while others use 31".
- ❌ Directional Indexing: This bar is indexed specifically for the Left Front or Right Rear. Installing it on the "wrong" side (RF/LR) will cause the bar to yield and sag almost immediately as it twists against its intended grain.
