Torsion Bar - Sprint Car - 30" Long - Tubular - .950 Rate - Not Prestressed
Performance & Fitment
Application: Sprint Car (Winged or Non-Wing)
Length: 30”
Diameter: 0.950”
Type: Tubular (Hollow). This design provides the massive stiffness of a large-diameter bar while significantly reducing unsprung mass, allowing the suspension to cycle faster and maintain better tire-to-track contact.
Rate: 0.950
Non-Prestressed: This bar is omni-directional. Because it has not been pre-twisted during manufacturing, it can be used for either Left or Right side applications. This allows for a more natural break-in period and a predictable handling profile.
Tuning Profile: A 0.950" tubular bar is an aggressive tuning tool. It is typically utilized on the Right Rear for high-bite tracks to prevent bottoming out, or as a firm Left Rear option to keep the car "up on the bars" in heavy conditions.
Material: Manufactured from high-strength alloy steel, heat-treated for maximum durability and resistance to torsional fatigue.
Precision Manufacturing: Centerless ground to a strict 0.950" tolerance. This ensures uniform wall thickness and a perfectly consistent spring rate from bar to bar.
Heat Treatment: Advanced through-hardening maximizes the steel’s "memory," helping the bar maintain its index and resist sagging over time.
Spline Integrity: Precision-machined splines ensure a tight, no-slop interface with your torsion arms and stops for immediate chassis feedback.
❌ Settling & Ride Height: Because this bar is non-prestressed, it is more likely to "take a set" (settle) during its first several heat cycles compared to a pre-stressed bar. Monitor your ride heights and torsion stop angles closely during the initial night of racing.
❌ Internal Bore Care: Hollow bars are susceptible to internal rust from trapped moisture, which can lead to sudden stress fractures. Keep the internal bore clean and lightly oiled, or ensure it is properly capped.
❌ Critical Tube Clearance: At 0.950", this bar occupies a large volume inside the torsion tube. Your chassis tubes must be perfectly straight and surgically clean. Any internal binding will "lock" the suspension, resulting in a dangerously erratic handling car.
❌ Rebound Control: The 0.950" rate generates significant "snap" on rebound. Ensure your shock valving is aggressive enough to control this rate; otherwise, the car will "pogo" and lose traction on corner exit.
❌ Length Check: This is a 30" tip-to-tip bar. Verify your chassis requirements, as many standard Sprint Car chassis utilize 29" bars.
- ❌ Hardware Stress: The torque generated by a 0.950" bar is immense. Inspect your torsion arms for "egging" or spline wear, as standard aluminum hardware can shear under these loads.
