Torsion Bar - Sprint Car - 29" Long - Tubular - 1.025 Rate - Not Prestressed
Performance & Fitment
Application: Sprint Car (Winged or Non-Wing)
Length: 29”
Diameter: 1.025”
Type: Tubular (Hollow). This large-diameter hollow design provides a massive spring rate while reducing unsprung mass, allowing the suspension to react instantly to track conditions.
Rate: 1.025
Non-Prestressed: Unlike "directional" bars, this bar has not been pre-twisted. It is omni-directional, meaning it can be used for either Left Rear or Right Rear applications. This provides a more natural "break-in" period and a predictable, linear rate progression.
Tuning Profile: The 1.025" tubular bar is an aggressive rate. It is typically reserved for the Right Rear on ultra-high-speed half-miles or high-banked tracks where centrifugal force threatens to bottom out the chassis.
Material: Crafted from high-strength alloy steel, through-hardened for exceptional durability and torsional fatigue resistance.
Precision Manufacturing: Centerless ground to a strict 1.025" tolerance. This ensuring perfectly uniform wall thickness, which is critical for a predictable and repeatable spring rate.
Heat Treatment: Advanced heat-treating maximizes the steel’s "memory," helping the bar return to its original index cycle after cycle.
Spline Quality: Precision-machined ends ensure a tight, zero-play interface with torsion arms and stops for immediate suspension response.
❌ Settling & Ride Height: Because this bar is non-prestressed, it is more likely to "take a set" (a permanent slight twist) during its first few nights of racing. Monitor your ride heights and torsion stop angles closely during the break-in period.
❌ Internal Bore Protection: Moisture inside a tubular bar can cause internal rust, leading to stress fractures and catastrophic failure. Keep the inner bore clean and lightly oiled, or ensure it is properly capped.
❌ Extreme Tube Clearance Issues: At 1.025", this bar is very close to the internal diameter of standard torsion tubes. Your chassis tubes must be perfectly straight and free of debris. Any internal binding will "lock" the suspension, resulting in a dangerously loose car that skips across the track.
❌ Rebound Control: A 1.025" rate generates significant "snap" on rebound. Ensure your shock valving is aggressive enough to control this rate; otherwise, the car will "pogo," causing a loss of traction on corner exit.
❌ Length Check: This is a 29" tip-to-tip bar. Verify your chassis requirements, as some modern Sprint Cars require 30" or 31" bars.
- ❌ Component Stress: Inspect your torsion arms and stops for any "egging" or wear. The massive torque of a 1.025" bar will quickly shear the splines of worn or lower-quality aluminum hardware.
