Torsion Bar - Dirt Modified - 29" Long - Solid - .975 Rate - Right Rear
Performance & Fitment
Application: Dirt Modified (Big Block/Small Block)
Position: Right Rear (RR)
Rate: 0.975
Diameter: 0.975"
Length: 29”
Tuning Profile: The 0.975" is one of the stiffest RR bars available for a 29" chassis. It is designed to handle extreme side-loads, preventing the right rear corner from "burying" into the track. This maintains optimal suspension geometry and prevents the frame from dragging, which is essential for maintaining momentum on "hooked-up" surfaces.
Material: Manufactured from heat-treated, aircraft-grade alloy steel (4340) for extreme torsional strength and durability.
Centerless Ground: Precision-ground to a strict 0.975" tolerance. This ensures an absolutely linear spring rate, removing the handling "surprises" caused by inconsistent bar diameters.
Heat Treatment & Pre-Stressing: Optimized to provide superior "memory," ensuring the bar returns to its original index and resists sagging over several seasons of heavy racing.
Finish: High-quality powder coating provides a barrier against the abrasive and corrosive nature of track clay and moisture.
Spline Fit: Precision-machined ends ensure a tight, no-slop interface with standard 29" torsion arms and stops.
❌ Mandatory Tube Clearance: At 0.975", this bar is very thick. It is absolutely critical that your chassis torsion tubes are perfectly straight and free of mud or rust. Any internal binding will cause the suspension to "lock," leading to a dangerously erratic handling car that will likely slide out or bicycle.
❌ Shock Valving Requirements: A 0.975" bar has a high spring frequency. If you are moving up to this rate from a lighter bar, you must ensure your RR shock has enough rebound damping to control the "snap" of the bar, otherwise, the car will pogo off the corners.
❌ Chassis Length: This is a 29" tip-to-tip bar. It is not compatible with newer specialized Northeast Modified chassis or Sprint Cars that require 30" or 31" bars.
❌ Component Stress: The torque generated by a .975 rate is massive. Inspect your torsion arms for any "egging" or spline wear. Worn arms will strip quickly under the loads this bar provides to the Right Rear.
- ❌ Indexing Post-Impact: Always check the bar for "twist" (permanent deformation) after a crash. A 0.975" bar that has been over-torqued will lose its timing, making it impossible to set your cross-weight accurately.
