Torsion Bar - Dirt Modified - 29" Long - Solid - .950 Rate - Right Rear
Performance & Fitment
Application: Dirt Modified (Big Block/Small Block)
Position: Right Rear (RR)
Rate: 0.950
Diameter: 0.950"
Length: 29”
Tuning Profile: The 0.950" is a stiff "stump-puller" rate for the Right Rear. It is designed to keep the car from "burying" the right rear corner in high-traction conditions, preventing the chassis from dragging and ensuring that the weight transfer is translated directly into forward drive rather than excessive body roll.
Material: Manufactured from heat-treated, aircraft-grade alloy steel (4340) for extreme torsional strength and durability.
Centerless Ground: Precision ground to a strict 0.950" tolerance to ensure an absolutely consistent spring rate throughout the bar's twist.
Heat Treatment & Pre-Stressing: Optimized to provide superior "memory," ensuring the bar returns to its original index and resists sagging over several seasons.
Finish: High-quality powder coating provides essential corrosion resistance against the moisture and clay chemicals found in dirt racing.
Spline Fit: Precision-machined ends ensure a zero-play interface with standard Modified torsion arms and stops.
❌ Mandatory Tube Clearance: At 0.950", this bar is physically thick. It is critical that your chassis torsion tubes are straight and free of mud or rust. Any internal binding will cause the suspension to "spike" its rate, leading to a dangerously loose or "skating" car.
❌ Solid vs. Tubular Tuning: If you are transitioning from a tubular (hollow) bar, a 0.950" solid bar will feel significantly more rigid. You may need to soften your Right Rear shock compression to maintain compliance over track ruts.
❌ Chassis Length: This is a 29" tip-to-tip bar. It will not fit chassis designed for 30" or 31" bars used in some specialized Northeast Modified or Sprint Car designs.
❌ Indexing Post-Impact: Always check the bar for "twist" (permanent deformation) after a crash. A 0.950" bar subjected to extreme impact can lose its timing, making it impossible to accurately set your cross-weight or ride height.
- ❌ Spline Stress: Because of the high torque loads generated by a .950 rate, ensure your torsion arms are not "egged out." Worn arm splines will fail rapidly under the pressure this bar applies to the Right Rear.
