  • ⚠️ Critical Fitment Exceptions

    Before beginning your suspension overhaul, please verify the following:

  • ❌ Engine Weight Variance: While "Universal" for Cortez models, a coach with the original Slant-6 may require a different adjustment than the significantly heavier Oldsmobile 455 V8 units. Ensure you index the bars correctly during installation to account for your specific powertrain weight.

  • ❌ Bushing Inspection: These high-performance bars provide a firmer, more controlled ride. If your original control arm bushings or pivot points are dry-rotted or worn, the increased stiffness will accelerate their failure. It is highly recommended to inspect or replace polyurethane bushings during installation.

  • ❌ Anchor/Key Condition: Given the age of these vehicles, the torsion bar "keys" or anchors can often be seized or rusted. Ensure your adjustment hardware is moving freely before attempting to remove the factory bars.

  • ❌ Not for Rear Suspension: These are dedicated Front torsion bars. Most Cortez models utilized a different rear suspension setup (often leaf springs or trailing arms) depending on the production year and coachbuilder.
