Design Feature: Floating CV Design, engineered to allow the CV joint to travel freely along the spline. This minimizes lateral stress and prevents cage breakage during the extreme suspension cycling common in wide-track, long-travel off-road racers.
Geometry: At 23" in length, this is one of the longest standard 930 axles available, ideal for custom "super-wide" desert racing chassis and sand rails.
Material: Solid alloy steel selected for its high torsional yield point and impact resistance.
Heat Treatment: Through-hardened for superior strength, allowing the axle to flex under heavy torque loads and return to center without permanent deformation.
Manufacturing: Centerless ground for a precise outer diameter and a perfectly concentric shaft, ensuring balanced rotation and minimal vibration.
Finish: Powder-coated for robust corrosion resistance against moisture, mud, and abrasive debris.
❌ Standard VW Splines: This axle utilizes the 28-tooth Porsche configuration. It is not compatible with standard 33-spline Volkswagen Type 1 (Bug/Ghia) or Type 2 (Bus/Vanagon) CV joints.
❌ Compression Limits: Due to the extreme 23" length, it is vital to measure your flange-to-flange distance at the suspension's narrowest point. An axle that is even slightly too long will bottom out in the CV cup, leading to shattered cages or a cracked transaxle housing.
- ❌ Component Tolerance: Designed for a 1.220" outer diameter spline. Ensure your CV joint internal "stars" match this dimension exactly; any mismatch can prevent the "floating" action required to protect the internal CV components from side-loading.
