The 16 3/4" axle set is the "extra-long" solution for highly modified Volkswagen IRS (Independent Rear Suspension) vehicles. These axles are specifically engineered for custom wide-track off-road builds, sand rails, or long-travel Baja Bugs that utilize significantly widened trailing arms. By featuring a specialized "shoulderless" spline, these axles prevent the mechanical "punching" that leads to catastrophic CV joint failure in high-articulation setups.

    • Manufacturing: Centerless ground for a perfectly consistent diameter, removing surface imperfections that could become stress risers under heavy load.

    • Finish: Industrial powder coating for superior corrosion resistance against mud, sand, and salt.

    • ⚠️ Technical Installation Notes

  • Precision Measurement: At 16 3/4", these are significantly longer than stock. You must cycle your suspension through its full range of motion (from full "droop" to full compression) to ensure the axle does not bottom out against the transmission or hub flanges.

  • CV Joint Clearance: Because the joint "floats" across the spline, ensure you use high-articulation boots that can handle the increased lateral movement without tearing.

  • Lubrication: Use a high-quality grease with high molybdenum (moly) content. The floating action requires constant lubrication on the splines to prevent "notching" and ensure the joint slides smoothly during suspension travel.
