Solid vs. Tubular (Hollow)

Both designs are engineered to provide the exact same spring rate, but they offer different physical characteristics:

  • Tubular Design: Features a 0.500" inner bore. These are approximately 2 lbs lighter per set than the solid version, reducing unsprung weight for faster suspension recovery.

  • Solid Design: Offers the classic, robust feel preferred for certain restoration and street applications.

⚠️ Installation & Performance Notes

  • Balanced Handling: Because 17.9mm front bars are substantially stiffer than stock, you must ensure your rear springs (coil springs on the 914) are matched accordingly. Running these with stock rear springs may induce significant understeer.

  • Indexing: The 914 front suspension uses the same spline-indexing system as the 911. Proper "clocking" is essential to achieve your desired ride height. Document the position of your original bars before removal.

  • Lubrication: Always apply a high-quality waterproof grease to the splines during installation to prevent "creaking" and ensure the bars do not seize in the A-arms or adjustment caps over time.
