SKU 1768

Category: Ford / Lincoln Torsion Bars

A heavy-duty suspension foundation for the first-generation Lincoln Navigator. These solid 1.39" torsion bars are engineered as a high-performance replacement for the factory units, providing a 16% increase in spring rate. This targeted stiffness upgrade is essential for Navigators used for heavy towing or those equipped with front-end armor, as it eliminates the "floaty" steering feel, reduces nose-dive during braking, and prevents the suspension from bottoming out.

Performance & Fitment

  • Application: Front Torsion Bar Set Diameter: 1.39" (Heavy-Duty Upgrade) Length: 55.50" Spring Rate: +16% over OEM
    • Lincoln Navigator: 1999 (Verify length for other 1st-gen years)

    • Ford Expedition 4WD: 1997 through 2002 (Shares the same chassis; verify bar length)

    • Ford F-150 4WD: 1997 through 2003 (Chassis dependent; verify bar length)

    • Note: Features a splined end design that interfaces with an included splined key, allowing for virtually infinite ride height indexing compared to factory hex-style keys.

  • Premium Construction

    • Material: Solid 4340 aircraft-grade alloy steel, chosen for its extreme fatigue resistance and "torsional memory."

    • Manufacturing: Centerless ground to a precise 1.39" diameter to ensure a perfectly linear spring rate and remove surface micro-imperfections.

    • Heat Treatment: Through-hardened and shot-peened to maintain ride height and prevent the heavy front end of the Navigator from sagging over time.

    • Finish: Industrial-grade powder coating for superior protection against road salt and moisture.

  • ⚠️ Critical Fitment Exceptions

Even if your vehicle falls into the year ranges above, you must ensure it does not fall under these exceptions:

  • ❌ 2WD Models: This SKU is designed for 4WD Independent Front Suspension (IFS) geometry. 2WD models typically utilize coil spring front ends.

  • ❌ Rear Air Suspension Conflicts: While these bars replace the front springs, ensure your vehicle's ride height sensors are recalibrated if your Navigator is equipped with the factory load-leveling rear air suspension.

  • ❌ 54-Inch vs 55.5-Inch Bars: Ford used multiple torsion bar lengths during this era depending on the GVWR and engine (4.6L vs 5.4L). You must measure your existing bar end-to-end to confirm it is 55.50" before ordering.

  • ❌ 2003+ Navigator: Will not fit the second-generation Navigator, which transitioned to a completely different front suspension design.
