⚠️ Critical Fitment Exceptions
Even if your vehicle falls into the year ranges above, you must verify it does not meet these specific exceptions:
❌ Pre-1969 Swing Axle VWs: These 26 9/16" bars are strictly for Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) vehicles. They are physically incompatible with earlier "Swing Axle" torsion housings.
❌ Extreme Stiffness Warning: A 26mm bar is approximately 95% stiffer than a factory 22mm bar. This results in a very rigid ride quality. For street-driven cars, this may be excessively harsh without professional-grade dampers.
❌ Shock Absorber Compatibility: You must pair these bars with performance-valved shocks. Standard street shocks will be unable to control the high rebound energy of a 26mm bar, potentially leading to "pogo" handling.
