⚠️ Critical Fitment Exceptions
Even if your car falls into the year ranges above, you must ensure it does not fall under these exceptions:
❌ Pre-1969 Swing Axle: These 21 3/4" bars are for IRS (Independent Rear Suspension) vehicles. Most 1968 and older Beetles use "Swing Axle" setups requiring much longer 26 11/16” bars.
❌ Harsh Ride Warning: A 27mm bar is significantly stiffer than the factory ~23.5mm bar. This will drastically firm up the suspension; it is recommended for performance applications rather than daily comfort.
❌ Spline Count: These utilize the standard VW 40-spline inner and 44-spline outer configuration. Ensure your inner torsion housing and outer spring plates have not been swapped for Porsche or custom race splines.
