⚠️ Critical Fitment Exceptions
Even if your car falls into the year ranges above, you must ensure it does not fall under these exceptions:
❌ Swing Axle Models (Pre-1969): These 21 3/4" bars are intended for IRS (Independent Rear Suspension) setups. Most 1968 and older Beetles utilize longer 26 11/16” bars; these shorter bars will not reach the inner splines of a standard Swing Axle housing.
❌ Ride Quality Warning: At 26mm, these bars are significantly stiffer than factory 23.5mm bars. While excellent for high-horsepower builds or heavy off-road use, they will result in a very firm ride on a lightweight street car.
❌ Spline Engagement: Ensure your spring plates are the "short" style designed for IRS. Using these with "long-bar" spring plates will leave the splines dangerously under-engaged.
