⚠️ Critical Fitment Exceptions
Even if your car falls into the year ranges above, you must ensure it does not fall under these exceptions:
❌ Swing Axle Models (Pre-1969): These 21 3/4" bars are designed for IRS (Independent Rear Suspension) transaxles. Most 1968 and older Beetles use "Swing Axle" suspension, which requires significantly longer 26 11/16” bars.
❌ Diameter Upgrade Note: At 25mm, these bars are slightly stiffer than the standard 23.5mm or 24mm factory bars. This is an upgrade for improved handling but will result in a firmer ride.
❌ Spring Plate Compatibility: Ensure your spring plates are designed for the 21 3/4" length. Using these with "long-bar" spring plates will result in improper spline engagement and potential suspension failure.
